In order to be eligible for the exam, they have met one or both of the following:


  • 3 or more years of full-time, eligible, practical work experience in arboriculture
  • Degree in the field of arboriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture, or forestry from a regionally accredited educational institute.

ISA Board Certified Master Arborist

This is the highest level of certification offered by the ISA and recognizes those arborists who have reached the pinnacle of their profession. In addition to passing an extensive scenario-based exam, they must abide by a Code of Ethics to ensure their quality of work. Less than two percent of all ISA Certified Arborists currently hold this certification.
